FRCPC, CCFP, MHSc, MDCM [Project Lead]

Dr. Corinne Hohl is a Professor in the University of British Columbia’s Department of Emergency Medicine and a Scientist at the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Evaluation. She practices emergency medicine at Vancouver General Hospital.

Corinne’s research interests are in emergency medicine, drug safety and effectiveness, adverse drug event surveillance, research networks and adaptive platform trials. Together with her team, she has developed interventions to improve the recognition and treatment of patients affected by adverse drug events. She has developed, validated and implemented tools to improve adverse drug event identification and reporting methods to improve clinical care. Her team has evaluated and developed data standards to improve adverse drug event documentation, and has contributed to generating new data on adverse drug events to enhance post-marketing surveillance and research. Together with colleagues from across Canada, she led the development of the Canadian COVID-19 Emergency Department Rapid Response Network (CCEDRRN). CCEDRRN was instrumental in harmonizing data collection on COVID-19 tested patients presenting to Emergency Departments across Canada to support evidence-based decision-making during the pandemic.

For her work on adverse drug events, Corinne was awarded a Best Paper Award from the American College of Emergency Physicians in 2011, and in 2012, a New Investigator Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. In 2013, Corinne was awarded the Teacher of the Year Award by the UBC FRCPC Emergency Medicine Residency Program. In 2019, she was awarded an Excellence in Early Career Mentorship from the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine, and in 2022 the Researcher of the Year award from the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians.

Corinne holds multiple operating grants including from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Public Health Agency of Canada, and Health Research BC. Dr. Hohl’s research works can be found here.
